Yeasayer “Odd Blood”

31 Mar

Finally listening to the great new LP from Yeasayer, Odd Blood. The first single, ‘Ampling Amp,’ was an addictive course of self-doubt and parental responsibilities. The rest of the album expands upon the eclectic 80’s sound and techno beats. You’ll find yourself name-checking all the references, Hall + Oats, Depeche Mode, Devo, even Frankie Goes To Hollywood. But those call backs seem to only propel the album’s sound. It’s a magnetic collection of songs that surprisingly resonant at the core. Catchy hooks, great beats and experimental sounds make this a surprise listen.
