TGIF: @TheKnockz, ‘Make It Better’

8 Oct

‘Make It Better,’ the feel-good single from The Knocks, gets an official video treatment from Alex Markman. Road trip, TGIF, whistles and catchy hooks. What’s not to like?

Watch the video below or grab the song here.

@BasicPhysics, ‘Ghosts on a G6’ (Deadmau5 + Far East Movement)

8 Oct

“I’m feeling so fly like a G6.”

Even after consulting wikipedia, the definition of a G6 remains unclear. Apparently, it’s better than a G4. So just keep that in mind the next time you set your sights to low.

Basic Physics delivers another great remix. Here, mashing Deadmau5 and Far East Movement as if they were separated at birth. Listen, download and check out more of duo rocking Minnesota.

Kings of Leon, ‘Pyro’

7 Oct

Just finished listening to the fantastic new track from the Kings of Leon called ‘Pyro.’ The slower, chilled vibe is a call back to their earlier work on Youth and Young Manhood.

The new track is from the upcoming LP, Come Around Sundown, which comes out 10/19/10. Learn more about the new album at their website.

LCD Soundsystem, “Can Change”

5 Oct

Rediscovering music on my iPod is one of those of quirks I enjoy most in life.

Today’s (re)discovery is “Can Change” from LCD Soundsystem’s critical hit, This Is Happening. The track captures that quintessential 80’s prom-theme sound. It has all the right quirk paired with a sophisticated, funk vibe.

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, The Social Network [Sampler]

5 Oct

After watching The Social Network this weekend, I was haunted by the movie’s amazing soundtrack composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The movie’s biting dialogue and Jesse Eisenberg’s introverted portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg were only heightened by the seemingly simple, yet dark score.

Continuing in the trend of free music (hey it’s all because of some guy named Sean Parker), a 5-track sampler is available for free (or buy the entire soundtrack at Amazon). Listen to the sampler below:
