I’ll credit @PSUNebraska for exposing me to Kyle Lucas. Always ambivalent to white rappers, I was hesitant to give his mixtape, Kyle Is Still My Favorite, a listen. However, you can not deny the power of Depeche Mode. On the single, ‘Silence,’ Kyle flows over the new wave sample with sophistication that only highlights the mistake that is Asher Roth. On this mixtape (from 2008), Kyle doesn’t showcase the same maturity as Bubba Sparxxx or the lyrical flow of Eminem, but he is talented. Other key tracks include, ‘Doin Time 2008’ and ‘Greetings and Salutations.’
